What is Cold Laser Therapy? PBMT

Cold laser therapy, also known as Photo Bio Modulation Therapy (PBMT) works by transmitting a calculated dose of light energy to the target tissue - resulting in decreased inflammation, decreased pain, and accelerated healing. The patented delivery system and detailed species-specific protocols provide answers to dosing challenges that result in the best outcomes – every time.

If you want to know the science behind it, the best explanation is this: Laser therapy applies focused light energy at a dog or cat's cellular level. When used properly, it allows molecules within soft tissue cells to absorb the energy and transform it, increasing cell metabolism and stimulating tissue repair.

PBMT has been utilized for decades, but in the last few years, laser therapy has truly found its place in mainstream veterinary medicine. Better yet, it's done with nothing more than a handheld wand and is an easy, noninvasive, and completely painless procedure.

What is Cold Laser Therapy (PBMT)Used For?

PBMT can effectively reduce pain and inflammation associated with a variety of acute and chronic conditions, including arthritis, trauma, cystitis, pneumonia, otitis externa, gingivitis and tenderness post-dental cleaning.  It also has been proven useful for treating wounds, tendon, and muscle injury. Most veterinarians or animal therapy centers use it almost extensively to reduce pain and inflammation and speed the healing of muscles, tendons, and ligaments. PBMT has also been been incorporated into treatments for edema, lick granulomas, nervous system injuries, and neurologic issues such as separation anxiety. It has even been used recently to reduce separation anxiety. The list is almost endless

Here's What Else You Should Know About Cold Laser Therapy (PBMT)

Your pet will have to wear protective goggles to shield his or her eyes during the appointment. Then, there's nothing left for your furry friend to do except sit back, relax, and enjoy a bit of pampering.

The software on many therapy lasers helps our veterinarians or vet technicians to calibrate the proper treatment for each animal and length of each session. We determine how long the treatment will be by factoring in your pet’s weight, the medical issue, and area to be treated.

Although improvement may be seen after the first treatment, sometimes it can take multiple sessions to see results. Your pet's condition will help us determine how often cold laser therapy (PBMT) is needed.
